Questions, answered
If something isn't covered here, the in-app Help has a full guide.
Is Tendvane safe? Does it send my data anywhere?
Tendvane has no telemetry. Everything runs locally on your PC and nothing about you is uploaded - there's no account and no cloud. Its checks are deterministic (no AI guessing), and changes that matter are reversible.
When does it ask for administrator permission?
Only when an action needs it. Tendvane itself runs as a normal program, so opening it, scanning your apps, network, browser and disks, and reading reports never shows a prompt. The first time you start something that genuinely requires administrator rights - installing a driver, changing a system-wide setting, creating a restore point, or the full check-up (Windows keeps BitLocker status, restore points and saved Wi-Fi passwords behind administrator) - Windows asks once. A small helper then does that work and closes when you close Tendvane. If you say No, that one action is skipped and nothing else changes.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC" when I run it.
That's SmartScreen, shown because the app isn't code-signed yet. Click More info → Run anyway. Code signing is on the roadmap to remove this warning.
Will it break my drivers or my system?
Auto Update creates a System Restore point first by default, and only installs catalog drivers newer than what you have. If Windows declines an update (common on laptop GPUs), Tendvane tells you honestly and points to the vendor's own updater rather than forcing it.
Are deletions reversible?
Yes where it counts: duplicate photos and Windows Installer leftovers go to the Recycle Bin, and the registry cleaner exports a backup before removing anything. Restore points are created before driver/tweak batches.
My iPhone (HEIC) photos show no thumbnail.
HEIC needs Windows' free HEIF Image Extensions (the same component File Explorer uses). If Explorer shows your .heic thumbnails, Tendvane will too; if not, install "HEIF Image Extensions" from the Microsoft Store and re-scan.
What does the Firewall tab do? Does it change my firewall?
By itself it only shows live connections per app - it never changes Windows Firewall. A rule is created only when you click Block on an app (with confirmation), and you can Allow it again from the same list.
What languages are supported?
The full interface and help are available in 9 languages: English, Français, Deutsch, Italiano, Polski, Українська, Español, Português and Română. Switch language in Settings.
How do I uninstall Tendvane?
If you used the installer, remove it from Settings → Apps → Installed apps (or Control Panel → Programs) like any other program. The portable build leaves nothing behind - just delete the .exe.
Is it free?
Yes, Tendvane is free and currently in beta.
