Changelog
What's new
Tendvane is in active beta. Highlights below; full details ship with each release.
0.6 - Beta
Current
- Remote access check - finds AnyDesk, TeamViewer and 12 other remote-control tools plus Windows' own remote doors; turning them off deletes nothing, and every turn-off can be undone.
- Browser extension audit and a website pop-up cleaner - what each extension is able to do, and which sites may push notifications (the classic fake-virus source).
- Check a link - paste a suspicious link and get a verdict computed on your PC only; and app permissions - who can reach your location, contacts, calendar, e-mail and files, with one-click take-away.
- Router & DNS safety - the quiet signs of a hijacked home network, with a one-click fix; weak Wi-Fi security flagged; the Unwanted scan now also checks services.
- Backup restore - see when you last backed up, bring files back (never overwriting anything newer), and get a nudge when the backup goes stale; plus a cleanup for old installers in Downloads.
- The check-up grew to 14 sections, its results survive a restart, trends show how the PC has been doing, the scheduled check-up runs silently and only speaks up when needed, and opt-in security alerts come from tendvane.com.
- Windows 11 readiness coach - on Windows 10 PCs, names the exact setting blocking the free upgrade, honestly pointing to ESU when nothing is fixable.
- A new look: vertical menu with icons and attention badges, clearer section menus - and Undo for every reversible action in the change log.
- An "I think I've been scammed" first-aid that checks your PC and walks you through what to do; a one-click Update everything; a startup advisor that says what is safe to turn off; and detection of antivirus exceptions and forced browser add-ons.
- Big changes protect themselves: removing built-in apps now makes a restore point automatically first.
- GPU interrupt mode (MSI) - the viral "hidden GPU mode" shown safely per graphics card, switchable only when the driver supports it, with a restore point first and one-click undo.
- 10 new tweaks (faster shutdown, faster folder browsing, a decluttered right-click menu, hardware GPU scheduling and more) - and Health now warns when restore points take too much disk space.
- "I use this - don't warn" - findings you created on purpose (your own hosts entries, a remote tool you installed, an extension you trust) can be marked as fine: they stop counting in the check-up but stay visible, and one click warns again.
0.5 - Beta
July 2026
- Printer helper (clear stuck jobs, restart the spooler, set default, test page), and Windows Update can now pause updates and undo a recent update.
- Sleep & wake doctor - see and stop what wakes your PC, plus keep awake during a download; and a virus scan that runs Windows Defender.
- What's running (memory hogs with one-click close), browser cache cleanup, sound devices, and a fix the clock repair.
- Camera & mic watchdog (who used them, and what's active now), new-program watch, device battery for Bluetooth gear, and a Wi-Fi channel check.
- Share Wi-Fi with a scannable QR code - pick a network and a guest points their phone at it; plus bulk uninstall of several programs at once.
- Easier to use - most sections now check themselves automatically when you open them (with a Scan-again button), your Store apps live in the one Apps list with a Store tag, the System page is grouped in plain language, and Health runs a full check-up that lists what to fix.
0.4 - Beta
Previous
- Ransomware shield (turn on Controlled Folder Access), a private breach check for your passwords, and Reclaim space for the big safe-to-clear items.
- Fix internet - a connectivity doctor that checks adapter, router, internet and DNS and repairs the connection in one click.
- Who's on my Wi-Fi now flags devices that are new since your last scan, and Security shows your Windows activation status and edition.
- Startup speed (last boot time and the apps that slow it), Easy view (senior-friendly text/pointer sizing) and a New PC setup wizard.
- Device quick-fix for sound, Bluetooth and undetected hardware; the duplicate finder can now scan all file types; and opt-in auto-maintenance at each health check.
0.3 - Beta
